The Croara Vecchia Agricultural Company welcomes its guests along the banks of the Trebbia River, in an area of unspoiled nature characterized by woods, meadows, and riverbanks. Since 2000, Alessandra and Bettina, motivated by the desire to preserve their family legacy, have transformed the ancient convent they own into a charming agriturismo, set in the picturesque landscape of the Val Trebbia.

The establishment offers cozy accommodations, featuring apartments and studios of various sizes, all equipped with a kitchenette, private bathroom, Wi-Fi, television, and air conditioning. Some units are particularly suitable for longer stays, as they come with amenities such as laundry facilities and barbecue areas. Guests can opt for a daily cleaning service or a more economical option for extended stays, starting from a minimum of four nights. Upon arrival, breakfast essentials are provided, and each morning, guests can enjoy cakes, fresh fruit, and cookies in the communal lounge.

The agriturismo is also a well-known equestrian center affiliated with FISE, boasting high-quality facilities and qualified instructors. It offers riding lessons for both children and adults, nature horseback riding excursions, and competitive activities in show jumping, dressage, and eventing. During the summer months, summer camps for youth are organized, featuring artistic workshops and outdoor recreational activities. For enthusiasts, guided rides with an English-speaking instructor are also available.

Another special area of the estate is the small church of the former convent, which now hosts courses and theatrical performances organized by the MEL Collective. This space is also available for cultural, social, and educational events and can be set up for presentations and exhibitions.

Among the services provided are a swimming pool with views of the river, bicycles for use, a barbecue area, and accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Pets are also welcome. Alessandra and Bettina personally greet the guests, offering information in English and French, along with the warmth and hospitality that make the stay even more enjoyable.

In the surrounding area, outdoor sports such as trekking, mountain biking, rowing, and golf can be enjoyed, or guests can relax in the sun along the riverbanks. The region is rich in history and charm: nearby, you can find the Rivalta Castle, the city of Piacenza, and Bobbio, one of Italy's most beautiful villages, with its medieval center and the Abbey of San Colombano. There are numerous opportunities to visit castles and fortifications, participate in tastings and themed evenings, or have fun with the family at the Rivergaro water park.
Rooms and Rates
Upon arrival, each accommodation comes equipped with essential items for the next morning's breakfast: tea, coffee, yogurt, cookies, fruit juice, toast, and local jam and honey. Every morning, guests can also enjoy homemade pastries, fresh fruit, and cookies in the common lounge, with the option to prepare their own tea, barley, and coffee, allowing for a simple and wholesome start to the day.

Hey, I'm Alessandra

Alessandra, along with her sister Bettina, is the driving force behind the Croara Vecchia Farm. Since 2000, she has passionately dedicated herself to welcoming guests and managing the equestrian center. Their decision to breathe new life into the old family convent stems from a desire to preserve and enhance the roots of this authentic place. Their unobtrusive yet attentive presence, combined with a warm and familial welcome, is among the most appreciated aspects by those who choose to stay in this corner of Val Trebbia.

Area Collina

The Trebbia Valley is one of the most captivating valleys in the Piacenza Apennines, an area that remains authentic and less frequented by mass tourism, where nature reigns supreme and life flows at a slow pace. The Trebbia River, which runs through the entire valley, offers beautiful views with its clear waters, rushing rapids, and smooth pebble beaches, perfect for sunbathing or swimming during the warmer months. Its banks are popular with hikers, canoe enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a direct connection with nature.

This region is ideal for outdoor lovers: trails winding through forests and hills provide opportunities for long walks, trekking, and mountain biking, while horse riding enthusiasts can explore scenic routes on horseback. Golfers have the chance to play nearby at the Croara Country Club, and there are opportunities for winter excursions on Monte Penice.

The valley is also rich in history and architectural heritage. Over three hundred fortifications dot the landscape: castles, towers, and medieval villages tell stories of noble events and border wars. Many of these sites are open to visitors and offer unique cultural experiences, including guided tours, reenactment events, themed evenings, and tastings of local products.

One of the most renowned destinations is Bobbio, a small gem nestled among the mountains and awarded the Orange Flag for its tourist and environmental qualities. The village, lively in the summer with events and markets, centers around the Abbey of San Colombano, founded in 612 and still a spiritual and cultural hub for the entire valley.

For families traveling with children, the River Park water park in Rivergaro provides a fun stop, featuring pools and slides overlooking the river. The Trebbia Valley is truly a place where all ages and types of travelers can find their own space amidst nature, culture, relaxation, and adventure.
